Drop by Drop
by Regina S.
copyright 02-03-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

There is a hole beneath my heart
it’s small but it won’t heal.
It drips my joy, my love, my blood,
my life it soon will steal.

Drop by drop by drop by drop
smoothly, slowly leaking out
optimism, innocence
replaced by hate and doubt.

Drop by drop by drop by drop,
my love, my joy, my care,
slowly, smoothly it leaks out
replaced by icy air.

Only you can take this pain,
can make this torment end.
You can make this go away,
you, who I call my friend.

This chill, this darkness coming on,
please, just make it stop.
Fill my sadness with your love
drop by drop by drop...

Reggie,
This poem was awesome and really rhythmic too! I really liked the way it starts out with the slow and steady losses and then in the end there is hope to be replenished much the same way. A wonderfully captivating way to express this cycle.
