Solitude
by Walter Jones (Age: 63)
copyright 02-27-2004

Age Rating: 7 to 127

When my eyes are tired
I slip into your mind
I wander the pathways
of pleasant dreams
I hide in the shadows
of what used to be.

In your mind all is quiet
no fears and pain do I see
it is a place of solitude
a safe haven for me

You love me with out thinking
you did not care what I was
no thought to the drinking
you thought I was an angel above

When nights drain my body
the world comes down on me
you give me a place to go
In your mind I am free

God granted me an angel
a child to comfort my sin
a place to fight my addiction
a safe world to live in

I can meet your eyes on this one Walt. The world never seems the same unless your in the arms of Solitude. Seems that is the only way anyone can survive here in this day and age. Addiction was my best friend...my walls of protection...my walls of solitude. I had to get out...and I am glad I did...only the Gods that watch over know what would have happend to me.
Great piece Walt.

Walt,
I can definitly relate to this poem, for it's the same way I feel about my girl. The way that she has appeared in myu life...ever since she has, I've stopped doing drugs (well...major stuff...though I don't do really any anymore), I've now stopped smoking, stopped hardcore drinking...with her, everything is okay. I don't need any of it, because the moment I feel her arms, feel the way her body is, my world is once more okay. Once more complete. You have put into words something I never can seem to accurately express. Once more, another great one.

Forever,
Debra

There's just no explaining it... I love this poem!!! It has to be one of my favs from ya Walt but I just can't put a finger on it... maybe it's the whole concept of having someone to love you unconditionally, "you can do no wrong" kinda of thing. I don't know... anyways, an amazing write, perfectly expressing what you meant to! I love it (not to mention covet your mad writing skills!!! :p )!!!
