One day I found myself chasing
A rat all around the room,
In his paws he held my dustpan,
And he was now going after my broom!
After circling the large round table,
His small legs finally came to a stop,
He turned his small body towards me,
And dropped the dustpan--KERRPLOP!
I continued to run for that rat,
Who had stolen my things all in fun,
I was focused on getting my dustpan,
So I dove, not realizing what I had done...
That rat just jumped out of the way,
As I plummeted toward the wood floor,
Spying a pail--full of water,
As well as a tightly closed door!
My head was doused with water,
Once I finally reached the cold floor,
Then I lifted the pail from my head,
And saw the rat that looked like he'd be laughing forever more.
I sighed, resting my head,
Glad that I had missed the worst part,
Then suddenly the door slams into my head,
As well as crushing my heart.
I heard an "oops" from the door above,
My older brother, no doubt,
He quickly shut the door ahead of him,
Before I had a chance to shout.
I clumsily sat up,
I was ready for this fight to end, shouting:
"That is the last time in my life that I'll ever tell my cats 'Mice are friends'!"
