Those Good Ol' Tree Climbin' Days

Those Good Ol' Tree Climbin' Days

This poem is a tribute to the best friend I ever had growing up.... And the best friend I still have to this very day.

Amy and I
went into the woods
and explored all the time

every adventure
brought new experiences

we always went
rain sleet or snow
we always went

the woods
had a mossy floor

sometimes, our feet
were filled with water
after stepping
on that wet moss

sometimes, I got scared
we walked on trails
and found new places

the feeling
eventually went away

getting older
Amy had decided
she wanted to run away

one day
we found an abandoned cabin
in the woods
and fixed it up
so that Amy could live there

but she never did
instead,
we kept on exploring

we jumped into muddy puddles
and ruined our clothes
we ran and played

Amy and I
always had fun
climbing on ledges
getting stuck in the mud

making tree swings
and making forts
out of fallen trees

Those were always
the good ol' days
but now they're gone
and life
has moved on
but I will always remember
the good ol' tree climbin' days

Heh. Yes, I remember all too well, and am very pleased that these memories still stay strong enough, within you, to bring them back so clearly and allow us to enjoy them with you. I'd go on about the technical stuff, but there's no need, really. I'm going back to read this work again, and remember some more. ^^

Thank you!!

Frank :)
