Forgotten Memories
by Ajda G. (Age: 16)
copyright 11-30-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I lost all hope
When you left
Even though I never knew
What I was hoping for

I loved someone then...
But things just didn't last long
Once you were gone

Eventually, in a few years
I fell in love again...
But now that you're on my mind
I wonder
Do I like him for him
Or for you?

He's an old friend of yours...
Now that I think about it
He reminds me a lot of you
In other ways, too

He makes me miss you so badly
I could cry

Remembering you
Takes my mind off of him
Which is odd
I haven't seen you in so many years
And yet as my friend
You've stayed closest to my heart

I expected to remain pure
With only one person
That I love
But suddenly...
I came across your picture
Of what you looked like
When I last saw you

Memories
Of being together
Made me sad
To think of how long it's been
Since we've seen each other
Now that I revisited them

I've talked to you
Maybe once
Since you left...
Celebrating our birthday
...On the phone

Something is better than nothing
But, my desires are
Demanding authority
Over my opinions

I hope that you
Still think about me sometimes
As a friend, as a funny person
As long as you don't
Forget me

Please remember me...
I want to
See you soon

I've changed a lot
Beyond recognition
But only the surface of my personality
If you don't forget
Who I used to be
You might adjust
To the new me better

I'm sure that
You've changed, too
But that doesn't
Really matter
If it's you
There has to be
At least a little
Of the past
In there somewhere

Please remember me...
Even if we're both
Just memories
To each other forever
At least we
Might be able to visit
Our memories
Together...

Very sad and beautiful wtite. There's something about a lost love that seems to always leave you wondering about what might have been. Nicely expressed. Take care and Have fun. Steve

I really enjoyed this poem. I am a big fan of poems filled with emotion and feeling to them. Most of the readers can totally relate to how the author is feeling. Excellent!

Please excuse any bad transitions...my life is getting really weird, so I'm just writing out my feelings in poetry. If you don't like these types of poems, that's your problem. Unless you're giving grammar suggestions or a compliment, please don't comment about my work. If you can't say anything nice about the reality in things, don't say anything at all and keep your neagative thoughts about my confusing life to yourself, thank you very much.
