What We Have, Is Worth Far More Than What We Don't.
by Lisa Anderson (Age: 18)
copyright 05-10-2004

Age Rating: 13 to 127

No matter how hard we try, it takes a tragedy to make people realize what they really have. A few words of wisdom, remember that next time you are fighting with a loved one. The reason I say this is because everyone tries to hard to be accepted. If we all just were thankful for what we have, we would waste a lot less time. In the time it takes you to complain about not wanting to do your algebra homework, you could have already had three or four problems done! Procrastination is something we can all be proud of…not! The thing of it is, is that I can honestly say I have wasted half of my life worrying about what others think of me, or just thinking I am not good enough. I have had loved ones die, and it took me their death to make me realize how I really did care about them! In the end, having the right shoes won’t effect who you really are. Why mope about your life? Always know there is a person who IS suffering worse than you are…always. In the beginning, I said it takes a tragedy to make people realize what they really have. I an not just talking about death. Think about it, if people make fun of you now for something, you may think it is a tragedy. But do you really realize that people only tease others when they are really low on self-esteem? So in the end, who will be laughing when you are successful? The moral of this short make-no-sense tale is that you should count your blessing and not your troubles.

How true this is! If we ever actually sat around and thought for a few minutes about what we have, we wouldn't all be so miserable. It's amazing how muh better life is when you stop thinking about what you dont' have, and start improving on what you do.
