Two beautiful children

Together we did conceive

Back then our love was

All anyone could need

Distrust burdened our relationship

And the marriage ended foolishly

Both too young to realize

Endurance was the key

Never looking ahead to see

Our love for another

Our children would need

So it ended very suddenly


Twenty fives years later

He’s returned to me

Our love for one another

Has grown immensely

With our children as adults

They look to you and me

Both posing the question

Why did we act so foolishly?
