Here Am I
by Heather Jackson (Age: 30)
copyright 03-28-2004

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Here am I
Broken before You
Shattered at Your feet
At the foot of Your cross
Wholly unworthy
Of this glorious gift
Flowing freely forth

Here am I
Who nailed You there
Who whipped You
Who beat You mercilessly
Who chose, over Love
A cold golden cow
And a murderer

Here am I
The disobedient child
Disrespectful, lying thief
Who would take from You
The honor You deserve
And denied Yourself
Just to be here now

Here am I
Longing now, only this
To live, somehow, here
In faithful obedience
To serve You, my God
To please You, Lord
To be worthy of this

Here am I
Knowing that nothing
You ask of me now
Is either too great
Or too little a task
For this Lamb of God
Who truly gave all

Here am I
Covered by grace,
Ready to do whatever
It might be He asks
No matter how hard
How painful the task
I must obey Him

Here am I
I stand before You
Worthy only because
You make me so
And when You ask
“Who will go for me?”
Send me – because
Here am I.

Quite brilliant! I admire this song. Beautiful message as well.

A brilliant song of praise, and the message inlaid is wonderfully and classically preached. There is a measure of faith given to each of us, and yours is evident simply in this piece. Thank you for bearing the foundation of your soul so adeptly. The style itself is flowing and very accessible to the reader, whether or not they believe the content. Excellent finish.

Faith moves mountains and yours is strong! I feel that we were put here to learn and if we live the life that God wants us to, we can be assured of Heaven. If not we can recieve Hell or reincarnation,
witch in some cases is also hell! Thanks, Anthony

Ok, aside from the fact that this is a totally awesome poem, I don't think anyone should really feel like that. (where they did so many things wrong) I've often heard that God doesn't make mistakes, and if people do,it's probably because He wants them to so they'd learn from them. And for some reason, that makes perfect sense to me. We try really hard not to mess up, but when we do, the only thing we can do about it is try to learn to become a better person and not mess up in the same way again. Yet if we're only told not to do something, we never really grasp the full meaning as to why we shouldn't. ... "Experience: That most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God, do you learn."- C.S. Lewis ^-^

It is wonderful to see a work that has been inspired by the passions of our Christ. If I am mistake, forgive me. Excellent write.

Being able to say the words 'here am I' and really mean them is hard to do, but well worth the effort put forth. Wonderful work, Heather.
