Laying beaten on the ground
I’ve lost it… lost it all
I thought I was invincible
I never dreamed I’d fall.
Laying beaten on the ground
The sun beating on my skin
The blades of grass poke at my face
I can’t… I’m giving in.
No more fighting… no more pain
What was I fighting for?
The selfish, the ungrateful?
It matters not… no more!!
No more bloodshed, no more screams
No more crying in the night
No more demons, no more guns
I refuse to fight!
No… I can’t… I’m not afraid
I wasn’t then, not now
But one more beat, just one more breath
I have to try somehow.
I have to live… just one more day,
a month… a week… a year?
I stand for peace, I stand for hope
I’m the man who knows no fear!
One more beat, just one more breath
Stay strong, you have to heal
This isn’t just some fantasy
This cursed dream is real!
People in danger… have to fight
I can’t give up… not now,
breath by breath and beat by beat,
I’ll get through this somehow.
Evil lurking on the streets
Innocent lives at stake
I feel the darkness coming on…
I have to stay awake.
I have to try, I have to fight
to save the ones that I hold dear
I stand for hope, I stand for peace
I’m the man who knows no fear!
Authors note: For all you Marvel freaks who are reading this now, you’ve probably already realized, this is about the Daredevil (‘The man who knows no fear’ line is a dead giveaway! ^-^) Anyways, this is actually based on a DD graphic novel, “Typhoid Mary” There’s a scene where Typhoid gathers all of the Daredevils enemies and made them all attack at once!! (talk about outnumbered!) And sadly our hero was beaten u_u. He was on the verge of giving up when his old mentor came to him in a vision and gave him hope. The Daredevil then started to realize the things that were most important to him and decided not to give up on life. I’m not giving away the ending, so if you want, read the novel!! ^-~
