Hello my friend,
I havn't seen you for so long.
Friends till the end,
But wait, something has gone wrong.

I no longer look at you,
In the same way I did.
As if a hint or a clue,
I now look at you a new.

My friendship has blossomed,
In to the most unlikely of flower.
Instead of seeing you every now and then,
I now count the hours.

When I see you in the halls,
I no longer wave and say "Hi".
I look away shyly,
And meekly pass by.

So longing to talk to you again,
But it now seems impossible.
Why can't I look at you as a friend,
Like I use to back then?

What brought on this change of mind,
and this change of heart?
Why do I long for you to hold me,
Instead of thinking its ok we are apart?

From friend to love,
In just such simple time.
I dream at night of you loving me, too,
That moment will be so prime.

But till then,
I must say farewell my friend.
Farewell my love,
Till another time.

The poem was very good, and I'm not surprised why it won a contest. It's something you would see in a Chicken Soup for the Soul book.

Very nice poem. You've expressed it clearly, congrats for that.
