Journey To The Prize
by Katie Langolf (Age: 22)
copyright 09-10-2004

Age Rating: 7 to 127

First you go to Pre-school
and learn your ABC's.
Then you go to Kindergarten
and learn your 123's.
First and Second grades
you learn to add and subtract,
as well as reading and writing.
Third and Fourth grades
you learn to multiply and divide,
as well as science and spelling.
Fifth and Sixth change it all,
with fractions, history, and
changing schools.
Seventh and Eighth are like Sixth,
only harder,
But these grades are needed
to go farther.
Nineth grade is training
for the rest of your life,
As well as a time for discovering
who you really are.
Tenth and Eleventh are hard to bare,
Until it's Twelfth grade,
You're finally there.

As I look back I truely see,
How much those times mean to me.

From Tonkas to Toyotas,
Barbie dolls to malls,
G.I. Joes to car shows,
And fancy homecoming balls.

From frilly dresses with
buckle strap shoes,
To blue jeans, and tank tops
with eye shadow of blue.

As I stand here now to accept
my prize,
I look at my past with great
pride.
As I watch my friends walk
before me,
I see my parents watching
below me.
As I walk up now to get
my prize,
I think of the life before
me,
And the hardships that were
behind me.
I've Graduated! and that's that!

(dedicated to the PCCA Senior class of 2004)

Congratulations, it was moved up!
It's staying where it belongs.
I knew that it deserved to be moved up to the main page.

I like the sentiments and the topics all included. Graduation is a great step to the rest of your life. :-) I bet that class is especially honored to have someone like you care so much about them! If you want my thoughts on the way your thoughts are written, just email me. :-)

Hi Katie,
What a nice way to reflect and remember. This piece had everything, from the basic learning experiences, to the final accomplishment of graduation. I really liked the last part, written in 2 line sequences. Very effective.
