Cheetah: School Project
by Caitlin M. (Age: 16)
copyright 09-30-2006

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Cheetah, with your eyes glaring back.
Your nails sharp like big tacks.
Do your glares force you to scare?
Or is this what you need?

Behind those mean eyes and sharp teeth.
Is a pure heart.
The soft coat of yours tells you well.
Yet you never admit that it’s the truth.

Your quick movement.
Is like a little kid running to the ice cream truck.
And I was the one who knew it.
Though, I must be still when you pass.

Why do you always eat helpless animals?
Why eat that little rabbit first?
It didn’t do anything to you.
So why should you?

Once you were created.
Was your mother happy?
Where did the very first of you form?
Did nature smile when this new animal was born?

Cheetah, with your eyes glaring back.
Your nails sharp like big tacks.
Do your glares force you to scare?
Or this is this what you have?

Hi Caitlin,
First, I like the echoing of the first and last stanzas.....makes me think of "Tiger, tiger, burning bright..." I like the comparison of a Cheetah's movements to that of a kid running for the ice cream truck...very clever.
The line: "Though, I must be still." I would remove the comma after though.

The last line I think you have an extra 'this' in there.
"Or this is this what you have?"

Clever writing.
