Wait For the Idea To Come To YOU!
by Lisa A. (Age: 17)
copyright 04-25-2004

Age Rating: 7 to 127

When trying to write a poem, do not sit and just start typing. There is a fairly good chance you will just get aggravated if you cannot think of something right away. Go about doing your everyday work. I find that when I am doing my routine schedual, ideas will just pop into my head! That is your cue to quick write them down. I find that when I really think that idea out, words will just pour out onto the paper (or computer). Everyone has a different writing style, so don't feel bad if you can't get it right away! Poems are meant to feel good when you write them. Writing is like a release for me. All of my thoughts can be viewed by the world here on PnP, and people can't judge me! PnP is a wonderful place to express your creativity, so don't force the poem out. As I have said, wait for the poem to come to you. Hope this helped. GOOD LUCK!

Sorry, forgot the spell checker.

This is good advice.
When I try to force it, it comes out badly.

I agree. This is good asvice. When I listen to my muse, I usually write well. When I try to fprce it, it comes out badly.

Thanks for writing this.

Rich

A vivid imagination will always help, but even that hits a brick wall from time to time. Good story, Anthony

I agree! When I saw the GIGGLE POETRY contest, i wanted to write something right away as I like making people smile. Do you know it took me nearly two weeks to find something? It was so aggravating and only when I gave up did something come to me...and more things, and more, and more. LOL :-)

Very good advice. I've tried writing poetry both the good way (waiting) and the bad way (forcing). You're right, patience in writing helps a lot.
