Words

Are there other words than those we always use?
Other ways of communicating than the ways we choose
The touch of a hand in friendship
The childish look of Trust
The adoring look of worship
The wheelchair being pushed.
The whisper of encouragement
The shout thats meant to warn
The sigh of contentment
Babys cry at being born.
There's so many ways we speak
When the words are hard to choose
Then the silence that we keep
Is the method that we use.

Yet a poet will always find the words for that is what we do. Thanks, Anthony

Excellent write, people tend to not realize that actions speak louder than words. Coming home to your wife and given her a hug and a kiss on the cheek, speaks louder than just a simple I love you. Sometimes showing what you mean, gets your true point across. I only wish I could take your write to heart.

I really liked those lines! I think most everyone realizes that language limits our communication and often, what's not said shouts louder than what is. I reflected the same sentiment in my poem "The Nothing You Hear", and then there's that familiar saying... "A picture is worth a thousand words" (though that does not really comment on ACTIONS speaking our sentiments, but it DOES say that words are less important than other avenues of communication.) Well, anyway, I totally agree!

Hi Doreen,
I like the introspective quality of this piece.
Words can fall so short of true emotion, and you've captured and expresssed that to the reader.

....thats meant to warn" (that's)

Your last 4 lines are very powerful!!
A very touching piece.
