Ode To My Buddy List
by Andrea Jeanette DiGiantomasso (Age: 22)
copyright 08-27-2004

Age Rating: 13 to 127

I stare at you, oh Buddy List,
Praying for a change,
A shift,
A slight adjustment to show that he is on--
Who is he?
I don’t even know~
Which is why he should be online!
So I can ask,
Inquire,
Interrogate about his love life
(And hopefully my name will come up)
(Perhaps the name of my sister?)
(If so, I shall destroy her)

But I digress--
Oh, my Buddy List!
Must I beg and plead,
For his little icon
To go from red to green?
And once green, I shall wait
For him to notice me,
To see,
To realize that Lita is online!

And he shall click, and he shall type,
And it shall say, “Hello!”
And with excitement bursting from my every pore,
As my hands shakily hit the keys,
I will reply:
“Hey.”

But that is not to be,
For, my fickle little Buddy List,
You refuse to change.
To correct.
To amend thyself until he is neither offline nor away,
And a little window appears to greet me.
You are too stubborn,

And I?
I am too impatient.
Curse thee! Curse myself.

Bless him.

And let him get online.

I have never thought of my buddy list in quite this way, maybe I should start saying hi more often when I get online.

.....Oh wow. LOL! That was great, Andrea, I really did like it! Especially the thing about the sister and "if so, I must destroy her." LOL! I grew up with two sisters who all my b/f's got crushes on, so I feel your pain!!

Great job!
Forever,
Debra

Andrea,
LOL!! This is a really clever little write! I can't count the number of times that I've sat, waiting for that one person to just flicker to life on my buddy list!! I absolutely love it!!
