"Morning rain takes the words of night

and leaves them in the wonder

of fallen angels in flight,

Got a dollar that they left.

It is of no earthly good to me."

Got a dollar in my hand

Left here in the box of time

Some say the sound of rain

will ease a troubled mind

Sweet scent of wine

left on my lover's breath

In the morn

clothes all soaking wet

See the glimmer of hope

Under a cotton dress

Wonder of the love

to the bottle you caress

In the morning rain

as I walk the streets of time

Some claim that I am lost

more than in my mind

You can feel me in the wind

See my soul taking flight

A drunk is still a drunk

no matter how often he tries

She is a long way off

but my burn is the wine

In the early morning rain

some say I died

In the early morning mist

In place that we hide

She holds me to her breast

Once again we both cry

Got a bottle in my hand….

A woman on my mind

just one more drink

is all I find

I believe the sound of rain does ease a troubled mind. It eases mine when I'm troubled, at least. Beautiful word descriptions. I can see the poem take place in my mind, piece by piece. I'm surprised no one has commented on this yet!
