HTML for Beginners
What is HTML?
by Buddy Ales (Age: 18)
copyright 06-02-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Many people today are publishing works on HTML but most don't explain all of it and thus confuse many. First of all, HTML stand for Hyper Text Markup Language. HTML is not considered programming by many but it really is, it is beginner programming. If you ever want to make a website, like PnP, HTML is a must. Every single page on the world-wide-web is made up of HTML!

HTML-enabled pages can be written using almost any text-editing program, ex: MSWord, Notepad, Wordpad. To make the document HTML instead of text, when you save you select "Save as type: html" instead of the default, or you select "Save as type: all" and enter ".html" behind the name you want the page to be saved under. If you get your website on the web, which is not hard, the page it will automatically be taken to is "index.html". All programmers must know HTML, even Mr. Betts knows it, even though PnP is mostly programmed in PHP, a different language. Please read my next chapter, in it I will discuss the basic codes.

These are some common things you need to know BEFORE you move on to the next chapter and will need to know throughout the book.

Tag: A tag is what goes between < & >
HTML: Hyper Text Markup Language ; For the HTML Tag it is the start and end of any web-page!
Code: Code is a series of tags or a specialized tag used to make special symbals.
Note: There are several tags that I use throughout this book itself, for example <br> and I even have to use special little codes for <, &, >, and ©!

Buddy,
I'm so glad you wrote this, I have no experience at all with HTML. You have made this concise and easy to understand. Thank-you!!! Good job. On to the next.......
Joan
