Soldiers
by Chelsea Armstrong (Age: 23)
copyright 08-03-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

  Soldiers

As the world's walls come crashing down
The foundation of Humanity crumble
Beams of hope sway in the gales of hatred
The nuts and bolts of dreams rust away over time
Whispers of laughter can be heard beneath the rubble
Screams of fear are whisped away on the smoke that smolders
The cries fade away with the dieing embers of a blazing fire
The soul is tainted by the crawling parasites of Evil

Soon it will come together
Become what it is to become
The world has fallen
Only to rise to the new dawn

The soil shall be cleansed
The foundation rebuilt
The beams of Hope shall be resurected
The cries will no longer be heard
Only the whispers of laughter
The nuts and bolts made anew
And the world's walls be put back up

This is faith.
This is America
We are soldiers
We will march on through the battles of the flames of War
And we will rebuild ourselves
Stronger and better than before

This is really good in my oppinion. Me being in the army, I have to say that this makes me think MORE of what my duties are and what I stand for. Thanks for the marvelous write.

I have told people that when I need an answer that has been hard to find, I only need to look back on my own works and I usually find the answers there. Your answers are found in your work also. I have read most of your work here and must say that this one is one of your best answers! Thanks, Anthony

Wonderful poem, Chelsea. Faith rebuilds crumbled castles and worlds after battle.

Warm Regards,
Lyle

I am oh so touched by this. I'm an army brat, have been married to a military man, and my sister's husband "just" returned from Iraq after being there for 15 months! He is stationed in Baumholder Germany and was one of the crew who got the extension. I have nothing but support and respect for our men and women who serve our great country. I'm proud to shake their hands welcoming them home, and giving them hugs telling them to be safe and proud when they leave. This was a very emotional peom for me. Thanks for writing it!!!!!

First let me say that there's not much I'd change about this one except maybe the line...
The foundation of Humanity crumble(S)
I don't know, it just sounds better to me with an "S" there.

As for content and emotional pull, this is one of the strongest ones I've read today. Although much more a lover than a fighter per se... I followed your thoughts, loved your images, and am eager to read more from you.

Emotion caries the words to another level, images form thoughts in a new way, I am easily content to accept wht is written, nicely done. Walt
