Falling Over The Edge

  Falling Over The Edge

There she stands at the edge of sanity
That fine line between reality and fantasy
Lithe frame burning brightly in the blanket of stars
Alabaster curves exposed to the Gods
Seductive is her sight
But clouded is her mind
Rich chocolate colored orbs, stained forever with the satin tears of pain and guilt
Slender digits cast around the hilt of a brazen blade
Whilst the other cast upon a thorned rose
Bleeding from more than just her palms

Long blonde hair, kissed with touches of Cornsilk
billow in the gales of sadness
While the heart screams for revenge
Yet the soul cries out for Faith and Hope

"Where do I go from here?" She whispers gently to the shadows
"No where, but over the edge with us my dear child" they whisper back
The mind becomes frantic, and rapid is the beat of her heart

Left with no choice
She raises the brazen cold steel
Mind screaming for forgiveness
Soul crying for judgment

As the blade plumets towards it chosen destination
There comes a small voice from deeper than the soul
Barely there
But loud enough

"Stop" It says
"For this is not your time" the growing voice says

Soon the whispers cease from the shadows
And silence prevails
Only the clattering of brazen harsh steel resounds upon the rubble of forgotten cries

Rose still in hand
She falls to her knees
Cornsilk kissed tendrils cascade over alabaster shoulders
As chocolate orbs pour with the rivers of fear
Only wounded by her thoughts, the silence is broken

"Stand up child" continues the nagging voice
"Dust off your knees, and try again. For life is not worth living with out a challange, We all have a choice to make, which one you make is up to you"

To the young woman's surprise
She finds the strength to stand
The tears melt away to rivers of Joy
Cornsilk locks alive with vivid color
Alabaster shoulders held up high
Rich chocolate eyes return the vision of hope
Thorns of a Rose slowly fade away
Slowly she turns away as the dawn approches

"I am better than you!" she shouts to the retreating shadows
"And never again shall I fall over your edge of lies"
Where her last words as the morning sky blazed with the vibrant scent of Hope

Walking slowly towards the sun
Yet again has she won
Her glorious fame cast in burning light
Never more to look for a fight

"Never more shall I fall over the edge" she silently vows to the morning sun

Chelsea:

Your vocabulary, and use of such expressive words is remarkable. I would perhaps have made this into 2 parts, to leave people hanging on the edge of their seats. Part one: "The Battle", and Part two: "The victory"..
Good read, interesting subject matter..I could see this one illustrated. BTW: Beautiful illustration for this poem.
Happy Trails!

Incredible! - what else can I say?
It hooked me from the first line.
Fine literature at it's best -- way to go!!

Very nice. You use such vivid descriptions. I feel as though I am living with each word you wrote. Thanks, Anthony

Where her last words as the morning sky blazed ... where (as in place) should be were (as in be).

"Stop" It says ... I, personally, would put an exclamation here for emphasis, but that's imho (in my humble opinion).

The picture was pretty and the descriptions worked well at bringing the image alive.
