The Rock
by Barry Clopton Lanier (Age: 52)
copyright 08-03-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Listen my friends, here's just what happened,
To a lonely man, many years ago.
He was making all the wrong choices,
Always taking all the wrong roads.

But one night, sat down with his daughter,
Confessed the sin he couldn't quit.
She slid a little closer, bowed head, and held my hand,
And prayed Dear Lord, come here with us and sit.

" I spent years a sinkin' down the bottomless pit"
"And when I got way down, I found a ROCK under it"
"I rejoiced, no more sinkin', build my house on solid ground"
"On this ROCK, hallelujah, I've found"
(CHORUS)
I found a ROCK, under the bottomless pit,
I found a LORD; who didn't quit,
Loving me( loving me), as I sank in that ground,
He picked me up, I'm heaven bound.
______________________________________________________
Now listen to me children,
About this ROCK I've found.
HE gave his blood at Calvary,
Just to save HIS children now.

He makes his home in glory,
But he's in the here and now,
That's just this sinner's witness,
But that's what I found
______________________________________________________

REPEAT CHORUS

Now listen to me chidren,
About this ROCK I found,
All you have to do,
Is ask him to;
Come in your life right now.

No more lost hope and fear,
And your hurting will stop.
Simply turn it over to him,
And enjoy my ROCK
( Repeat last Stanza)

While not completely a poem, music is basically poetry set in motion. This song hopefully will be recorded on the Fall release of the new Oakridge Boys Gospel album, for which I am grateful. God Bless Duane, of The Oakridge Boys.

Barry,
And so it is music...of the soul and heart, it reveals the inner longings of someone who has found hope again. This is very moving, and I'm sure very personal. Keep the faith!
