Lord Bring Back Princess
by Robert Betts (Age: 62)
copyright 08-13-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Princess, my princess,
oh where can you be?
Did you die in your sleep
while dreaming of me?

Who is this other
who lives in your skin?
When was she born
and her life begin?

She picked up her sword
lopped off my head,
sliced up my bowels,
that oozed blood-red.

Princess, my princess,
can it be true?
That you'll never utter
the words, "I do?"

You swore on your life
that you'd marry me,
that you'd be my wife;
How can this be?

Princess, my princess,
when did you die?
At the foul hands
of this new magpie?

You, the one now
who lives in her skin,
why did you kill her
in your sharkskin

Lord please take me;
I'm weary with pain.
of having my heart
trashed once again.

I am now dead,
a walking zombie,
murdered and killed
by this new harpy

Upon this earth
is anyone true?
Is anyone like
this girl I once knew?

Is this new girl
and princess the same?
I really don't know
my confusion reigns.

Lord, you sent princess
to ease my pain,
but this one now tortures,
again and again...

Princess, my princess,
are you still there?
Do you still love me?
Do you really care?

Lord, my dear God,
please listen to me,
bring back my princess,
I beg humbly...

Affliction, explanation, dream, aspiration, hope, and plea and many other notions seem to be trying to find a vent, and the persona with the help of the rhetorical questions does seem to be in a situation where no living being would like to be.
Pessimism and optimism playing their role in the underlying structure.
Well thought, well arranged and well supported by simple but impressive diction.
Bless you
Rajasir

Luck will have it that this happened a long time ago. On the bright side, its better that she left before you had many years invested. Good luck in finding Mrs. Right. Thanks, Anthony

its hard loosing someone especially when they break the promise you once thought she wanted as much as you do, be strong there are people out there no one's meant to be alone. It will work out in the end

Oh, I'm really sorry!
I hate it when people die.
All that pain and torment....
Is she a fictional character?

I do hope that princess does still love you. It is hard losing a loved one. I will pray that she will come back to you. We can only hope.
