Blinded By Success (or... I Can't Breathe)
by Mary -BrytEyz- Ball (Age: 38)

Contest Winner

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Thrown to the top
I Stumbled every bit of the way
Practiced my speech
but I didn't know what to say

Lost in a map
looking at dyslexic directions
I'm pigging out
upon poisonous confections

Blinded by success
Eyes wide open but I can't see
Funny thing is
I'm exactly where I wanted to be

Out of the box
of (or not) my own volition
Granted my wish
by a funny sort of faerie tition

Sometimes we wish
for things exalted and majestic
Often forgetting that
Cinderella and "Di" were domestic

Blinded by success
Eyes wide open but I can't see
Funny thing is
I'm exactly where I wanted to be

Sitting on the verge
of everything I ever truly wanted
I can't breathe for achievement
has unnerved and daunted

Now that I'm here
I certainly don't know what to do
Ever done that...
bitten off more than you can chew?

Well, I wanted more responsibility at work...and I got it! I'm excited, I'm thrilled, and anxious and nervous...and I love it!

I have tried and tried to get an appointment with a buyer at a billion dollar company. Now, I got it. See, only I was trying to get it for one of our salesmen. The owner of our company surprised me when he said, "You can handle it Mary. I'll coach you. You'll do great." Well, needless to say, I'm up for the challenge and I love the opportunity to show what I'm made of... and I'm scared to death at the same time! I'll have to let you know what happens. Wish me well!

Oh, and did I say I love my job? I do! I work at GRIP Tools.
