The Spider Woman

The Spider Woman
sharon...©

Wavering oceans of fire
she passes by my window
and I see her with
the dagger in her hand

she has slain another man
with her heart not her hand
they cater to her every command
they fall in her trap
and bring forth her plan

she is the widow spider
beautiful to look upon
killing daily every
mothers precious son

she is old but
she looks young
she is evil in a red dress
with flowers blooming fresh
in her hair

I knew who she was
the moment I laid eyes on her face
but my son was already
drawn into her poison embrace
and the trap was set
he became her pet

now she is pregnant with his
first born child
he is happy and beguiled
by her false beauty now
she was very clever and knew how
to get him into her web

now he can not
walk away
he is in defeat
by the widow spider
every day
she cuts him with her blade
of fatherhood
before his time
his young life
covered with her mind
and webs of beauty
that he see now

But when the fun is over
and he opens his
eyes to see the light
she will fight
to keep him
in the darkness of night
where he can not see
her spider web
on his head
and the child will
be in the
middle of the
spider bed
to trap
my son
once more

Trapped by a black widow. There's a message in this for the unwary. That's for sure.

Interesting way to illustrate the tension/hate relationship between mother'n'law and daughter'n'law that sometimes occurs....strong images, well written.
