Silent Pain In Her Eyes
by Renee Gonzales
copyright 09-02-2001

Age Rating: 13 to 127

The silent pain in her eyes,
as she lays down in bed.
Hugging her pillow beside her,
wishing it was he instead.

Knowing in the dream world,
they are together.
Years and years of memories,
but not enough to last forever.

Running across a picture,
another piece of him.
Consumed by what was,
the life that could have been.

Time heals all wounds,
or so they say.
For her the pain is fresh,
even to this day.

They did everything together,
shopping, banking, doctor’s visit.
For her to go alone now
is something hard to accept.

His calls from work,
always at the same time.
Makes it harder to believe
his voice won’t be on the line.

His laughter so sweet to hear,
his smile lit up the room.
Never a bad word for anyone,
he was taken way too soon.

The silent pain in her eyes,
as she enjoys life.
Her family and friends,
reminders of how proud she was to be his wife!

Thanks Robert. That was for my mom and dad. LOL wasn't for mine, if it was for my ex, sure wouldn't be that sentimental :)

Tremendous loss, and to have to be in the same place and have the same experiences alone...devastating.

Wonderful description of grief and all that one feels when a trusted, loved, cherished one dies too soon. Sad poem.
