My Friend Mandy
by Walter Jones (Age: 63)
copyright 04-23-2008

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Mandy took my hand lead me to the bedroom
Wanted me to heal her with my song

Well you know I feel kinda lonely
You know that my heart it does well
You know that I feel kinda lonely
but my friends are waiting in hell

Mandy is the vision of love she holds
me and we just like to sing along

You know that I play the taverns
You know that I sing up a storm
You know that I am living
in the fear of the final fire storm

Mandy is in love again with noise
of a youthful voice soft inside

Keep the woman singing hear the
heart ache on the floor feel my
voice thunder as the wall falls in the hall
Taste the whiskey as it burns its way
down

Mandy we live in the broken heart of the empty wineglass on the floor

See me walking the story as the cars race to town
She was sweet at fountain she was better on the stage
She was the perfect lover but she was twice my age
Hear the pattern pounding as the rocket soared

Mandy holds me as we stagger out across the floor working the crowd

Well you know the bottles empty left here on the floor
See the children playing as we trip skipping out the door
Got no money only spirit that's from the night before
Just a bit of wine mixed with beer from out the door

Mandy is the dreamer of a time that was lost and I protect her at any cost

She was my dreamer and I her lover boy
See us dance to the rhythm of the partners of joy
Little child a screaming as the music goes downtown
I hear the bongos no body makes that sound

Mandy takes me to place I have never been, going from a lover to a man

Keep the wine a flowing as the music starts to die
keep me my heart pumping as the stars fill the sky
Soft the wonder of her body with mine we are the living
Going after the past one last time

Where was this poem hiding? The male poets on this site just continue to amaze me. Do I know you from 1975? lol All my life most the writers I've known personally were women. I tend to read that gender as well. On this site all the male voices I've been reading sound as though they are connected, like they've been fast friends for eons. Most interesting...group!

This one made me smile, shake my head thinking *no comment* as I cleared the cobwebs away to look into another place and time.

Susan
