When Night Falls
by Angela Toshner (Age: 18)
copyright 09-22-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

The shadows arouse,
your senses get stronger.
Every little sight,
of every cars light,
wakes you.

Every little creak,
in the kitchen floor.
makes you listen harder,
for what's in store.

Every little sniffle,
from the person next door.
Makes you wonder,
is that them or someone new,
just waiting.

Hi Angela,

You really captured the experience of being awake in the middle of the night in a superb way. Your poem was magnificent, drawing me into it. Well-written, very smooth, great flow. All around, this one's a winner.

Nice way of making the words flow together. Very exciting, and original. The imagery was wonderful (and I live for imagery), making it so I felt the suspense and (could it be?) fear. Very nice! Great job!

I wonder what we are waiting for...
This is a great poem. And so mysterious with so much suspense!
