Are Your Ready
by Misty Montier
copyright 09-14-2004

Age Rating: 18 to 127

baby,
are you ready…

to sail the seven seas
go places like Ghana,
Venice, Paris, Belize

to expand your horizons
beyond the pages of Verizon

to take it up a notch
beyond and above the crotch

baby,
don’t you know…

from your rib I was made
fashioned just for you babe
cut from the same cloth
bee to honey, light to moth
flip sides of the same coin
seared in each other’s loins

baby,
are you ready…

to take my hand, travel
to foreign lands like Nova Scotia,
Scotland, the Netherlands

to retire the game cat
mouse, the one we speak
same mess, different week

baby,
are you ready…

to go places you’ve never been
no, well then, when

you’re done being shady
be a man, claim your lady

Misty,
A bit of spiciness and dreams, pleas and demands. I like the edgy way this is written, held my interest to the end with a soft urgency to it.
The repetition between verses works well.
Nice write!

Joan
