Rain

Age Rating: 7 to 127

It occurred to me one night, as I found myself awake,
That I couldn't wait for summer.

School finished, and I couldn't suppress the cry of joy that bubbled within my chest.

Exams would be easy, if I ever found the time to study with the heat pressing down.

But the night I had awakened, it was to the rain.

My window was open wide, the blinds down partway, and a rather large ball of fur was nestled behind my legs.

The rain hadn't disturbed the dog, but my ears seemed to be tuned to the sounds of the outside.

Heat was reduced, and it was a comfortable temperature. I debated with myself whether I should run out now to enjoy the break.

While I enjoy the many activities summer has to offer, such as swimming, sports, and sitting in the shade, the one I prefer isn't mentioned.

Because it isn't an activity many like during the summer.

Listening to the rain has to be the activity I love the most.

Haha! How ironic, it's May 26th and I have two weeks left of school. Hmm, I really didn't like using commas back then...it's only May and I'm turning the AC up a notch. >.< Only problem with Power Saver mode, it's nice when it's on, but it acts like a Phoenix Down when it finally clicks on... Anyway, I liked your choice of words in this one and it was quite the solid structure. I don't have any grammatical picks, so good work in that department. I enjoy listening to the rain too, even though I like running in it or listening to it in the car. :) Good work, keep writing.

Good mood poem.
Lying in the dark hearing the peaceful
sounds of the rain.

I think most people can relate to that feeling - I know I did.

Thanks,

Rich

I LOVE the rain in the summer. I love going to the beach when it's raining and just walk around it. Who cares if you get soaked. It's worth it in the end. I also love listening to the rain when everyone is asleep and it's just so quiet.
Great Job!
Shannon

It is an interesting poem, and I belive there might be a hidden feeling behind it. I think it might not just be rain you enjoy. Is it? Good job, but it could flow better.

You know Sam this is good and but not great. Don't get me wrong because I like it but not your best. I give it a 3. Good spelling:)
