You've hurt me once
And hurt me twice
And hurt me twice again
Maybe now I should leave
Before you conceive
A new trap to catch me in.
I will wiggle my hips
And put a strut in my steps
As you watch my retreating back
For soon you will learn
That I will never return
For love is not something I lack
So on the curb I will sit
Trying not to admit
That I lied when I said I was fine
That I don't mourn my tone
(Which I would never condone
If the words hadn't been mine)
And sallying forth, that tiny tear
Betraying all my little fears
That I worked ever-so-hard to hide
Saying I needed you not
And leaving to rot
In the mire of my pride.

Andrea,
Another well written piece, although this one has some bumps in the meter when you read it.
The finish is nice and strong, again good images here. Enjoyable read.
Your poem was really good! It's very emotive and I should imagine that many people can relate to it as well. (You've put my work to shame!!!) Well done.
