A letter from the heart.
by Denise Johnson (Age: 27)
copyright 09-20-2006

Age Rating: 13 to 127

We were once two strangers walking this earth, but when we met, we merged our lives together to become one. Of course we are still individuals, but our love for one another joined us together in ways that will mystify mankind for an eternity.

Our two hearts became one love, our two minds created one dream, our two bodies became one intertwined soul, and we started a life long journey together. Hand in hand we started our climb up the very long ladder of life.

Over the years we have laughed and cried together, fought with each other and worked together to overcome problems. We have grown as individuals and also as a partnership. We have hurt each other beyond belief, but also supported, cared and loved each other.

For it is that love, friendship, trust and above all absolute faith in each other that has brought us to where we are now, our wedding anniversary.

I do not know what the future may hold for us, but there is one thing that I do know. Neither one of us is perfect - but we are perfect for each other.

This is a very well-told vision of two people falling in love, staying in love, and being confident in that love and in each other, that tomorrow that love will still be there. This write seems to have affected many people in many different ways. Which is also skillful writing--to bring us into your story, but to not make us a part of it, except indirectly, in the sharing. Mostly it seems technical things have come up. But you haven't edited the work, so the presumption is that you're pleased with what you've done. I'm going to put Pen in my pocket and just mention how much I liked this piece. ^^

These are wonderful words and I can sure relate to them. My wife and I are coming up on 35 years together. I'm still not perfect, but she says she is. lol

Hello fellow romantic! I don't believe I've read any of your work before. Well, I'm glad I read this! It's full of emotion and I just recently wrote such a "love letter" to my husband (only we'll be married 15 years come January). I left the page open on the computer monitor so when he sat down later, there it was. He was touched that I used his name and wrote it and posted it for all to see. I want everyone to know just how much I love him, and most of all... I want him to know!

As for the poem here... it's more like reading a story or a letter than a poem. I guess if I were to have written it... I'd break it up in places where I wanted the reader to pause and NOT break it up where I wanted them to read through it smoothly without breaking up their thoughts. But, that's just me. I'm a pretty predictable writer (my poems mostly rhyme and are mostly about love). *shrug*

Again, thanks for posting. It was uplifting to read of a love gone RIGHT!
