In the evening then
her slender figure in that long black gown,
her fair plait glimmering,
her trumpet pressed against
her breast,
her belly breathing and
her baby blues
promising.

Interesting-- A fragment of beauty caught by surprise. I like this kind of free verse, capturing a mysterious moment, not easily explained.

I like the poem and how it ? our thoughts and reactions.

I definitely thought of her as a musician, and I loved the metaphor of the "baby blues". Perhaps she's expressing the duality of the phrase. I don't recall seeing too many blues performances by elegant ladies in long, black dresses, but I could think of no metaphor for the trumpet. Very interesting poem. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I think I understand the poem....not sure though. Is it about a musician ready to play? Or a mother to be. Hmmm, have to think more on this. Elegant poem.
