rainbows crashing off of people's faces
this I remember of my mother
beautifully flitting to different places
I was left in the arms of another
rainbows crashing off of people's faces
mommy's such an elegant woman
many men arrive to sing her praises
the child forgotten as something less than human
rainbows crashing off of people's faces
the battle of Antietam was today
those left alive were special cases
I'll never see Mom again in the same way
rainbows crashing off of people's faces
alone I sit gazing out my window
seeing people controlled by oddball crazes
I don't understand those far below
rainbows crashing off of people's faces
he rebuilt my life when it fell apart
his oddball love constantly amazes
and now a rainbow crashes in my heart.
