This whole life
Is just a game we play
And I never was good
At it anyway

So I shouldn’t be surprised
That I’m losing still
I can’t win now
And I’m sure I never will

But keep my chin up,
Keep that smile
Start off running
Down the next long mile

I may tumble and spin
Fall flat on my back
Feel my breath grown short
Hear my bones crack

But nothing stops honor
And nothing breaks pride
So I’ll take the bumps
And ditches in stride

If I get an injury
I won’t have time to mend it
Forget about winning the race
I want to be able to end it.
