Senseless
by Amanda C. (Age: 17)
copyright 11-06-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Why do I bother
To even touch
When holding on
Still costs so much?

Why open my eyes
When what I want, I can't see,
As the blinding lights
Consume what's in me?

Why breathe in the crowds
If creatures nearby are so foul?
And the air makes you grimace?
While their souls make you scowl?

Why taste your new victory
And scoff at defeat,
When what you've been given all along
Is all things but sweet?

Why listen
When all you hear you deny?
Forcing all hope to leave
As you wave it goodbye.

When it comes down to it
Hearts alone I entrust.
For when all else fails,
You move to the senseless.

Nice song, deep and somewhat powerful. Keep going and songwriting will come easy :D Promise!

I tiink this poem is good and your message here seems clear also, but a few typos I think...
"while their soals make so scowl?" I think "so" should be "you" and the question here is "why breath in the crowds?" and the three lines following are statements and don't need the question marks. What do you think? I'm glad I read this because I like the strong feeling here. Great job! Thanks, Anthony
