A or an.

Now,'fess up.
Everybody has messed this one up once or twice.
It's okay, nobody's perfect.
But, after reading this, you will be.
A is used before a word that beginning with the sound of a consonant. (a book, a pen)
An is used before a word beginning with the sound of a vowel.
An hour
a horror film
an honor.
A wolf
an ounce
a yellow cab
a university
an umbrella
an oak tree
a unicorn
an igloo
an elf
an eager beaver
an understanding
an honest man
an elephant
a yacht
an answer
a used car
a chair
And now, a test to ensure you've been paying attention!
(a)or(an) once over? _______

Hey all the exceptions you have start with "u". Maybe "u"'s the secret letter.Oh wait, but an umbrella... Don't worry I'm sure someone will figure it out. Maybe.

So how come we say a used car? It doesn't follow the rule... Weird. Should we really say an used car? That sounds weird. Are there more exceptions? Now I'm confusing myself again. Well the rest of it made sense.

Very intresting. Good work. Perfect of the people who's grammar sucks more than mine. Well, I've mastered the "a" or "an" part. Well and a lot of others. Getting a 92 on an english test is kinda backing that up, huh? Eh, I'm not trying to gloat... I went through heck to get it. I usuly say the other but since this works 4+...Very good! It's nice that you submit thinks like this.
