A challenge
by Paula T. (Age: 15)
copyright 10-28-2004

Age Rating: 7 to 127

This is a challenge for you people.
I wrote the beginning to a story, and I want you to make up and ending. Send it to me and I will fix all the mistakes, and pick the best ending for the story.
I'm not giving you any directions to it, take notice of that. Do whatever you want, nobody's making you, and e-mail it to me. Have fun! Here is the story so far.......

Melissa wrung her hands and felt distracted from the lesson her teacher was teaching. She couldn't concentrate.
She felt something was out of place, didn't belong......
In a daze, Melissa put her head down on the desk.
Not feeling comftorable in the position, she buried her head in her sleeve and remembered a time long ago......

"Melissa, you've been called to the principal's office." Her teacher was looking down at a note in her hand, her face contorted into a mask of pain.
Melissa, a jolly 6-year old jumped up from her seat and bounced to the front of the classroom.
"You'll need your backpack, sweetheart."
Melissa bounced back to her desk and retrieved her bookbag. It was a new backpack with a picture of a teddy-bear that her mother had bought her over the weekend.
She shrugged into it and bounced happily to the principal's office, where she recieved news that would ensure she never smiled again.
The poor and oblivious 6-year old didn't realize the potential danger a trip to the principal meant.

Likely, I would continue this with some sort of twist involving the Sailor scouts, and possibly zombies. This is actually a pretty good idea, to start a story and allow others to continue it.

good idea!

Dear Paula T.,
Nice job! This leaves the reader in suspence, maybe I should write you the ending! As SamiJo M. pointed out, you could make this a contest, it would be fun, but still, the beginning is good! From Tina Z.

Maybe you should have made this one a contest?
It's a very good idea anyhow.
Keep up the good work.
