Ode To Lost Love
by Walter Jones (Age: 62)
copyright 02-20-2008
Contest Winner

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Foolish pride takes it toll

I held her for a long time

missed her forever

In the days when all the world was sleeping

Felt the love as it ran through my veins

Soft she was like the morning running in the meadow

Who said that life was fair

dreams sing to the world

just what is love

Sweet she was like the wine aged in time

Silver words dance among the flowers

All I heard was the honey dripping line sweet wine

Days of old pictures of a memory

Story of the fine lingers in virtue

She held to faith of her father

and commitment

Soft and sweet the feelings in my soul

Walk with me as the days turn to evening

Sing with me and I will soon be on my way

Wonderful all the good of the feeling

Silver words take my breath away

It was cold in the evening holding me

She asleep on my lap

Beauty web woven

Wish I knew the word that would hold her

Wish I could take her away from you

River bends at the calling of the angels

Death walks the pathway to love

Heroes lie in waiting into the valley

Songs of great fall into our lasting love

Angels talk of the great love of earth

Passion leaves in a flush of sin

Pride kills souls

Feel the wind rest so gentle on my shoulder

See the pain as tears fall from gentle eyes

Keep me here only for the moment

I must move to the front of the line

Rainbows reach for the memory

All I know is love of a better time

Keep the ring placed upon her finger

Kirs sings to me a sad song of my life

sees the Eagle and screams

loving her easier

Saved as a reminder of better times

Oh she said it so blessed good to feel you

Yes he said we would be together you and mine

Markers live in the churchyard

Love holds stone cold forever

Ash and dust all turn to earthly dreams

In the life they shared love conquered all
