Dear family,
Seth had written on the paper,
If you are reading this, then you know I went away for the best of things. I won't hurt you anymore. You can live happily now.
Seth tapped his pencil eraser on the notebook as he analyzed what he'd written. He tilted his head back and reflected on the week.
Seth had mostly been scratching at his skin. After that day in P.E., he'd been suffering from hurtful things classmates were saying. "Micheal Jackson" and "stupid wigger" were two he heard most.
Seth had an odd skin problem. There were colored patches over the light tan spots. This was most likely because he had an African- American father his mother is white. Seth was happy that no one knew about his father. He would be teased every single day if people did. But his classmates often called his mother bad names because of this.
Seth figured that people wouldn't be so hurtful if he was gone. So he planned a suicide on Saturday when his parents would be gone to his grandpa's and grandma's house. He thought about drowning himself in the bathtub. Yes, drowning wou-
*KNOCK KNOCK*
Seth jumped at the sound. "Who is it?" he called without turning around.
"It's me, Seth," his mother replied on the other side of the door, "Amani has her preschool orientation on Saturday. I need you to get her from school, if you could."
"Alright." A huge thought just hit him. If he died he would let Amani down by not getting her from school. She would have a thousand questions: "Where did Seth go? When will he be back?" What if she came home to find him dead in the bathtub?
That would be... horrible... a four year old girl exposed to that...
Seth flung the notebook off the desk and cried.
