In a silent world, hidden deep in the shadows
Far beyond the reach of many, and seen by very few
There is a mid-night rose garden that has never seen light
Watered by sorrowful tears and fertilized with lost memories
Five roses reside there; each has a blossom that is blacker than coal
But each different and unique in their reasons for bleeding
United only by the ground they share, and the burdens they bear
They live in a mid-night garden that has never seen light
The first rose the most beautiful and enticing
She calls for help, only to let you prick your finger on a thorn
She just wanted to be loved, for someone to truly see her
Now all they notice is her beauty, and not the person within
The second rose intelligent, but hidden in a mask
Pretending to be so happy, while she cries in the dark
Nightmares of the bruises he left haunt her
What did she do so wrong to deserve her loss of innocence
The third rose harsh, trying to embrace her pain
She seeks to be loved by those who would only touch her
And takes away her blues with bottled happiness
Everything goes right for her, if she’d only make the right choices
The fourth rose sweet and pure, stained only by society
She seems so open, but those who love her know the lie
She bears her soul to none, not even those who would help her
They accept what little she gives, and pray to see more
The last rose silent, engulfed in her self-inflicted pain
She lives in a fantasy world, to escape a dooming reality
Not even knowing herself, she expects none to understand
Her soft whispers merely prayers to forget
Five roses so different, yet united in their screams
Wishing only to be forgiven for what soft crimes they’ve committed
They fall further in the shadow, and father away from humanity
Five roses in a mid-night garden, which has never seen light
Dedicated to Snookie-bear, Mely-Chan, Rachie-Poo, and Kaitie-Bear! My best friends and biggest influence.
