Twilight Love
by Stephen Washam
copyright 12-09-2004

Age Rating: 16 to 127

In evening when the sun descends and twilight time is near
I wait beside the old rock wall for my sweetheart to appear
Through the evening mist she comes as I wait for her there
The night is filled with wonder and enchantment fills the air

All through the moonlit garden we will dance on feet of wings
As the love song of the nightingale plays softly as it sings
The evening passes quickly in my lady’s warm embrace
I’m taken with the beauty of her lovely smiling face

When we were young we made a vow to never be apart
Then she took ill and with her went the love within my heart
But true love always finds a way to flourish and to grow
And that is why she comes to me because I love her so

And as the moonlight starts to wane and nighttime turns to day
My sweetheart slowly turns to mist and softly fades away
But she’ll return tomorrow night and I’ll wait for her here
Beside the cemetery wall when twilight time is near
