In the Mirror
by Madeline C.
copyright 12-19-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I look in the mirror
And what do I see?
There is my hero
Staring straight back at me

My hero has been told
She’ll never fit in
But she held her head high
And stayed away from sin

The hero I see
Reflecting in the glass
Could that really be me?
But I don’t even have IMASS

My hero has cried
The same tears so many times
Over loneliness and lost friends
Her spirit never declines

I stare at that girl
Who showed things I couldn’t see
Now my eyes are wide open
She showed who was really me

My hero has gone…
Through many things
She is very smart
Who never cared for blingblings

But why is she my hero?
What has she done so grand?
Why all the fuss you say?
I don’t quite understand

My hero is pure
And stays away from drugs
Always cared for others
And never hung out with slugs

She has conquered through things
Some will never face
Don’t stop her in her path
For she is running her own race

I look at this girl…
Smiling so brightly in the mirror
I almost sing for joy
My hero is me, I have nothing to fear

I loved this so much. I need to read more or your stuff! And to me you seem like a good role model as well. :)

This is an awesome poem I loved it. I belived that there is a hero with in every one. My favorite part of the poem is the last stanza. This poem made me smile as I was reading the poem. Keep up the good work.

Your my hero too! Bravo and keep it up! Peer preasure is a very hard thing to stand up against.
We all have the right to live our lives the way we want. The Bible is a guide for those that want to follow God. There are other beliefs and many ways to interpret them. You must find your way and it looks like you have gotten on the right track! Thanks, Anthony
