Young mother, you’re only seventeen
And already you have so many children
Young and untouched, yet wise beyond your years
Your children are so misguided, what will you do
The oldest is sixteen and the youngest fourteen
You grew up so fast so you could help them along
Pushing down your inner child to guide your young adults
Always strong and unwavering, you lead them through
Even though they have real moms, they depend on you
Their parents were never there, and you were constant
Though you cry alone over a burden that isn’t yours
You could never let them go, not out there alone
Maybe not by blood, but in your heart they’re yours
Young mother, you face their teenage souls everyday
And only in your heart can you look back and see yours
