The pain can cripple a bearer
Or strengthen him just the same
We must be the ones to choose
Will we leap or be the lame

True strength comes not from muscles
nor from weights in some pompous gym
It comes instead from another source
that's buried in hearts deep within

We all live life's unfairness
Death steals from us, one and all
We're cheated ultimate happiness
And hear some other deceiving call

But will we be forever stumbled
Because once upon a time we fell?
Will we let the sadness be our tale
The one we endlessly choose to tell?

Or will we instead, choose option B
and take the road less traveled;
Be happy with what we DID in fact have
look not at what's unraveled?

I, for one, must be stubborn
Because I refuse to let life die
I have my mother's inner strength
that supports the happiness others vie

I hope you too find reasons to smile
in your each and every day
I pray your past won't poison
your faith, your heart, ... your ways!

Even when we say it is not needed, encouragement is always something that makes us feel wanted and needed. Walter is something special and his works are special ,too. It again is great that you let him know. Thanks, Anthony

This poem reminds me of the phrase, "You are what you think." We really do create are own world, our heaven or our hell. I believe one chooses to see God (or Being, Truth or whatever one's higher power is) everywhere or nowhere. This is about the only idea that I am "black and white" about. Whenever I get resentful at somebody or something I must always take responsibility for my feelings, own them, and realize I have no control of anybody or anything: a total acceptance of the way things are with the realization that praying for God's will-which resides somewhere also within the divine in me- will grant me the serenity I need to always make the "right" decisions.
I agree with you that when all is said and done, unconditional love is all that really matters.

Jim
