Promised Illusions

Promised Illusions

A lifetime of waiting for his will
Mellow drifting, peaceful and still,
Into the abyss glide slowly and free
Promised illusions, waiting for me.

Promised illusions, waiting for me
Hopeful of the future and all it can be
Hold back one hour, the dying light
Keep me sheltered for one more night.

Keep me sheltered for one more night.
Bewitched with many delusions bright,
Encircled completely with faith and dreams,
Shelter me from meaningless schemes.

Shelter me from meaningless schemes
Spare me the anguish tell me not, what it means
Hold back one hour, the dying light,
Keep me safe with in your loving sight.

Keep me safe with in your loving sight.
Mellow drifting, peacefully and still,
Into the abyss glide slowly and free
Promised illusions, waiting for me.

Nothing to fix. But, it really didn't grab me.

Interesting structure, with the last/first lines the same. Very effective transitional device... I'm learning a lot, just reading your poems. Thank you...

Very lovely and flowing. Gentle and peaceful poem.
