I am a world traveller,
(At least I think I am),
For I have seen so many things,
Both made by God and man.
I've viewed the constellations,
I've braved the desert sun,
I've travelled up and down the line,
For I'm a railroad bum.
This morning I'm in Arkansas,
This evening I'm in Maine,
I travel through this open land,
The rails are my domain.
I view life from a boxcar,
I meet friends in the 'jungle',
And people think I live this way,
Because in life I stumbled.
But I am living here by choice,
For it was my decision,
I feel that living like most do,
Is living in a prison.
So please don't feel bad for me,
I'm really not hard up,
I am a world traveller,
The rails are my own cup.
