Hey folks!

Just a quick note on my Mom. She was in physical therapy yesterday and she took 7-8 steps! Yay! They are scheduling her for agressive physical therapy and everyone's hopes are up. I went to visit her last night but she was exhausted and sleeping soundly. It must have taken a great deal out of her...but she did it!!!

Yay! Who would have ever thought???? Praise to God...for it could be no other that has given us this miracle!

What a life! I love it!

I hired a beautician to come and give Mom a haircut, a manicure, and a pedicure. Yay! She said it felt so good and was the perfect reward for... *drum roll please*.....

For WALKING 17 STEPS DOWN THE HALLWAY WITH A WALKER!!!!!!!

Just wanted to share that with you. For some reason I thought it would be something you'd want to know!!!!

Yay, Yay, YAY!!!

Ok, another quickie...

Best News so far.... She walked 30 feet on Saturday!

Hurray!

More detailed information...

I heard that Lonnie was there Saturday to visit Mom and Shirley left me a note to say she'd be there to visit Mom this weekend as well. I must have just missed Lonnie as I was there a couple times. DJ and Gary came with me the first time, and DJ had the children he was babysitting tagging along as well. Mom used to watch them in the date care a long time ago so they were excited to see "Miss Betty." We were going to move some of her stuff into storage per her request, but there must have been a mix up on the day and time as I never got a call to come and help.

As I left one time on Saturday, I ran into some mutual friends of mine and Moms (Bobbi & Mrs. Henry). They were going to visit someone else and mentioned they would like to visit Mom now that they knew she was up there. I know Mom would be pleased so I told them what floor, etc. and hope they had a fun visit.

She did her walking during the day Saturday. Apparently the nurse (Lisa?) was behind her and calling out, "Miracle in Motion" behind her as they proceeded down the hallway. I think it would be nice to get her a T-shirt that said that! Miracle in Motion... that's my Mom!!! Boy, was she tired Saturday night due to the effort, and she rolled her eyes on Sunday when she was told they may want to try it again on Sunday. She's so funny!

Oh, and one time when I came to visit this past weekend (Friday night?) Mom was watching Shrek. She absolutely loves that movie. I think it has something to do with the fact that there's a lot of SINGING in it and that the characters sing KARAOKE in it...but I'm not positive. Mom attempted to sing a song on Saturday with the karaoke machine that Bob brought up for her. She had been looking forward to that for a long time. Although she didn't sound up to her own standards, I am elated she's gotten this far. I told her that her voice would get stronger with time much like the rest of her body and muscles.

I saw Bill, Brenda, Billy, and Bryce there on Sunday morning. It was nice to see them though briefly. They were just leaving as I arrived. Lonnie called to confirm we were going to still move stuff for Mom this weekend and I asked him to call me with the details so I could help, but I didn't get a call. Maybe it will be next weekend. Whenever, I'll be there if i can. It's my Mom, after all. It's the least I can do!

I brought in some loose fitting clothes for her workout sessions in physical therapy and some egg casserole on Sunday morning for breakfast. She's going to need all the "good" food she can eat to replace the calories she's burning up in those hospital hallways!

Well, today is Monday and I'm on lunch. I can't wait to see her after work and hear what miracles have happened while I was away. I'll most assuredly share them with you once I find out. :-) I've been reading your responses to Mom and she loves to hear from everyone.

She did have a question for Jeff J... "Does he really not like rice at ALL because of where I worked? Is it just because he overdosed on it back then?"

And for Aunt Johnny, "I like those funny emails. And the one with the red highlighted lines, I thought those were the funniest. I can see why you highlighted them."

BJ, "I can't wait to karaoke with you and dance. Better start practicing... And thank you for coming up here to see me."

Kathy, Mom (Grandma Ketcher) and Pop (John Ketcher), "Thank you for visiting. I know it isn't easy. I really appreciate it. I'm sorry this happened, but I am glad to see you."

Dennis, "Please don't stop keeping in touch. Mary told me that you've been in contact. Family is so important. Thank you for your prayers. I'm waiting for the tape Mary said you were going to send. I bet it's almost full now!"

Everyone, "Thank you for everything."

Finally, does anyone remember sending (or being sent by Mom) a male angel with "feathers in all the right places" ? Mom keeps talking about it and I want to print it up and hang it in her room. Oh, and we've decided not to put a phone in her room. It would be $60 to hook up and $20/month after that. She won't be in there much longer... so... a cell phone is good for now. She can't always answer it yet. But soon! :-) Her fingers are getting more movement and strength in them day by day!!!

Take care,

BrytEyz
