In my darkest hour a cruel smile crossed my lips
My eyes ignited like blue flames and burned through my soul
I bid my chains to fall off and they did
I walked out of my cell and tasted freedom
I found I was no longer tied to my sorrow
I would not allow it to consume me anymore
By embracing this pain, I completed myself

The message seems clear. We create and stay in our own prisons. Very succinct and directly stated.
