Religion Counts For Naught

  Religion Counts For Naught

Religion is a man-made thing,
It really counts for naught,
If searching for a way to God,
Is what you've always sought.

For it can tell you how to live,
And it may make you 'good',
But it will never lead to heaven,
Like you think it should.

I hear you say, "How can this be?
It's how I have been taught,
Religion is the way to God,
That's what I've always thought."

But it is not religion, that
Will save us from our sins,
That makes communion with our God,
And makes us whole within.

It took a man named Jesus Christ,
The Son of God Himself,
To die in place of all our sins,
And save us from ourselves.

He is the final sacrifice,
He's God in flesh Who came,
To take our sins upon Himself,
Accepting all the blame.

Without Him we were gone astray,
And Satan had control,
But now we live in Him alone,
And now we are made whole.

This is an amazing peice; I thought it was so good, I made a point to read it to my husband, who was also impressed.

Marx said that religion was an opiate for the masses, and I think he was right; far too many people look to what is all too often empty expressions of religion based on tradition for relief in troubling times... but the flaw is that religion can ultimately do nothing for man; only relationship with the Creator and Savior is able to save our souls and grant us purpose and peace. Thanks for explaining that so eloquently!

I like the way your mind works, to many people have blind faith in the church and its so called religious rituals.
Every one of them man made to frighten the believers. Where in the bible does it say the priests should wear silly clothes and chant in strange voices.
Well done, Brian.

Organized religion is a snare and a racket! They are man-made traps and we all know that man is imperfect so why would we think that ANY religion is infallible? As you said, God is truth and without the sacrifice of Jesus we would be nowhere. God sent his son, Jesus willingly came and acknowledged in Revelation that God was HIS GOD as well (and even acknowledged that God was superior to him many times)... I wonder why with such a great example to follow so many fail to do so. I don't with religion was abolished as ANY attempt to do the right thing will bring us closer to it...but I dont' like the fact that religion itself is so often worshipped. Again, thank you for sharing your views.

This piece is amazing and I see only 27 reads as of yet. I hope that more members read this piece (maybe the title intimidates them!)
Thanks

Very nice. I think I agree. Organized groups are only as good as thier leadership. The leadership, being man made, already is imperfect. The savior is the only perfect part and therefore the only absolute. Thank you for this writing, Anthony
