I Thought I Could Save You
by Delaney Lindley (Age: 19)
copyright 01-05-2005

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Curse me for being different
Admit you were wrong;
Tell me you're just like them
Tell me you only saw what they did
Just tell me you never loved me

I'm young and angry
Hopeless probably, too
I tried so hard to make things work
And then I fell in love with you

We were happy for a while
Just a once upon a time

You buried yourself alive
With the shards of glass you used
To mutilate your soul
Those blood drenched, savage, silver shards
I thought of all people
I could save you;

Please believe,

I really wanted to.

Now I'm standing here
Letting the phone just ring
I really don't know why,
I don't wanna hear you yell
And I don't wanna hear myself cry

I really wish I could change
But I don't hear what they say
I guess I should just learn to lose
It's easier that way
To think all this time
I thought it was love...
If you don't believe in yourself,
It doesn't matter if anyone else does

I extended my hand
You slashed it back
I gave you a rope
You just couldn't grasp
I guess when your heart gets broken
You start to see cracks in everything

Look me in the eyes
And say you never loved me,
I saw you crying
When you walked away
And I knew you'd be back someday

Sometimes it seems so strange,
Why'd you take those pictures
If all you wanted to do was forget?
Through the self-deprication and all the perdition
I thought I saw the real you

So I thought I could see it through,
I thought,
Of all people,
I could save you...

Please believe,
I really wanted to.

You cannot save someone who doesn't want to be saved.
I'm sorry that you are so unhappy, I hope that you feel better soon.
This was a great expression, I loved it.
Keep up the good work.
