Someone to Keep me Steady
by Leah Garrison (Age: 20)
copyright 01-09-2005

Age Rating: 1 to 127

stretch out my hand into the darkness
is there anybody there?
please let there be
someone who'll save me
before I fall into despair

in the twilight, lights are gleaming
telling of a future fair
but I find out with a cry
that the lights are all a lie
is there anyone who cares?

false dreams and sham beauty
form our castles in the air
first they're floating
then exploding
stripping human lives bare

I know of someone who will save us
from our lives of pettiness
blow out the penny candles
pick us up from midst our shambles
fill our lives of emptiness

He's the one who fights beside me
He's the one who loves me so
He is the source of my salvation
recipient of my adoration
and defense against my foe

stretch out my hand into the darkness
never fear the black of night again
through the tempest and the gale
the gates of hell shall not prevail
I believe in the power of Him. Amen!

This begins so dark and ends so full of hope.
I like your use of words.
I hope you didn't have to go through this really.
keep up the good work.
